About This Software VirtualHere allows you to use the XBox One Wireless Controller, steering wheels, microphone, headphones, flight sticks, PS3 controllers, bluetooth adapters, and many other USB devices directly on your Steam Link!Click here for FAQVirtualHere improves the compatibility of most gaming controllers because it transmits the actual USB signal between the Steam Link and the remote pc. The remote PC thinks the gaming controller is local to it, whereas really its plugged into your Steam Link. VirtualHere uses the Steam Link network connection as a USB cable and you can share up to 3 devices at a time with VirtualHere 7aa9394dea Title: VirtualHere For Steam LinkGenre: UtilitiesDeveloper:VirtualHere Pty. All they do is direct you to a forum, which makes sense at first because everyone will have a similar problem. But the way they help you is only a temporary solution. After an update, expect to have problems. And most of the problems are left unsolved and are years old! This is the only piece of software availible to do the job it's needed to do. But it doesn't. I have tried countless times to get this working. I have logged 12.8 hours on this at the time of reviewing this, 9 of those hours was spent trying to get ti to work. I have can NO LONGER RETURN THIS because of the amount of time I have used this. IT HAS THE LOWEST AMOUNT OF HARDWARE SUPPORT FOR SOFTWARE I HAVE EVER USED! I highly urge anyone buying this or even thinking about buying a steam link to read the forums first and see if there are any problems.. Works well! Great for keyboards such as Logitech with LCDs etc. Was not able to get my xbox one controller to work as promised. Shortly after becoming frustrated by this program, I had to run out of the house for a bit. After returning a few hours later, I found that when I thought I had closed the program I had actually not killed the process in windows (there is no close option that I saw, I had to kill the process manually). So my refund request was denied twice due to my "playtime of the included product exceeded 2 hours". I am a very unhappy customer and will never give this program or (steam link for that matter) another chance. As someone with a bit of spending money and not much time to play, these products are not worth my time or money.. As someone who bought this to use with peripheals which are more often than not a bit lacking in cross-platform compatability, I wanted to share my experience for those who want to use sim racing gear with a Steam Link.I wanted Steam Link in order to play racing sims in a more comfortable and functional position in my bedroom. Prior to using Steam Link with VirtualHere I was limited to a thrown-together racing setup, which shared space with my PC rig and a PS4, and it was a cluttered cluster♥♥♥♥. Clutter♥♥♥♥. I dunno. Anyway, it sucked. Given the rock-bottom price of $5 during Black Friday I hastily purchased a Steam Link only to be very dissapointed finding out that racing peripheals such as wheels, pedals, and gearshifters are not natively supported by the Steam Link which rendered my purchase nearly pointless. So naturally I was relived to hear that this app (apparently) solved that problem. I was skeptical at first because I saw many posts about iffy/problematic support with simracing gear, but decided to try my luck since the app was only $12.Much to my elation, I encountered no issues and I was pleasantly surprised when -all- of my gear was detected (as well as properly IDed) by the Steam Link through VirtualHere. I've been enjoying Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally and other racing titles without any problems, input lag, or axis innacuracy with the following setup:Thrustmaster T150 WheelThrustmaster TH8A Gearshifter (plugged directly to wheel, no USB)Thrustmaster T3PA Pedals (ditto)Fanatec ClubSport Handbrakehttps://imgur.com/hG3lAKYIn addition, I recently purchased a Mayflash F300 arcade stick which also worked flawlessly with VirtualHere, so now I can enjoy SFV and classic games with Fightcade on my 40", which is awesome. I'm actually quite stumped as to why people have such problems with this app. All in all, VH is well worth the $12. It literally just -worked- and I'm quite thankful for what it provided.. This software is the only way I can get my In-Home Streaming + PS4 controller to work with non-steam games (even ones that support PS4 controller!).It's unfortunate that I have to pay a third party to fix a bug with Steam In-Home streaming, but considering how cheap the Steam Link is, I don't feel cheated.. After 38 minutes trying to get this to work I asked for a refund. Tried several different work arounds but still no luck. If you're able to get it to work or lucky enough that it worked right away that's great. For me it wasnt able to locate the steam link. After mapping it to the link manually it was still unable to install the drivers. From reading forums and help sections it sounds like its a windows driver issue but I am unable to find any driver problems at the moment. Even norton was set to not block Virtual here and bonjour. I gave up.. VirtualHere is exists at the fault of Steams ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business model for the Steam Link. I bought this software because, like anyone with any desire to play video games on PC, I would like to be able to use any controller I should choose WIRELESSLY. For me, this is the XB1 controller with the wireless adapter which works beautifully with any normal PC.BUT, since Steam wants to force everyone to purchase their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controllers, they refuse to support this hardware - and thus you have to buy this unsurprisingly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ software to even attempt to make it work. Long story short, the software serves an extremely specific purpose and is IMPOSSIBLE TO USE FOR PLUG AND PLAY WITH THE STEAM LINK AND A WIRELESS XB1 CONTROLLER/ADAPTER SET UP. The program may or may not work well for it's intended use (which you should read up on in the description), but it will not work at all for 90% of users. To even get the XB1 controller to work wirelessly you have to go through a cumbersome set up process EVERY ♥♥♥♥ING TIME you want to use it. Not at all worth a single cent if that's what you want to use it for. I blame Valve, not this developer, but Christ alive if these guys could at least make this program work for what everyone will want to use it for. Listen to me and the other reviews - don't buy this and don't buy a Steam Link. I'm literally going to buy a 100ft HDMI cable and it'll work 50x better.. For most USB peripherals the Steam Link works fine, If the peripheral is HID of UMS or is a steam controller it'll just work, it's great. However some USB peripherals don't use these standards, and for that, this product says it can cure all your problems, but like any other panacea, it's snake oil.Perhaps one day in the past this worked, but it definitely doesn't now. while streaming a web camera through the steamlink, the stream grows increasingly unstable, and then crashes. The Steam Link actually goes off line, because the firmware supporting the VirtualHere system appears to be broken. After such a crash, the VirtualHere client software on the PC will be left standing, and your PC will respond to it as it would had you unplugged the peripherals, and you'll find the only error is a server ping timeout. This leads me to believe that the failure point is NOT VirtualHere, but the steam link's firmware.I've since tried running the Performance overlay and it appears that streaming typically takes up 20 to 30 mbps which is expected, but adding my web cam doesn't just double this figure, infact the graph on the performance overlay skyrockets completely off the chart and maxes out on some capacity limit of which I am unsure. I was using WIFI up to this point and thought maybe if I had a wired connection it would work out. So I strung a ethernet cable between my router and the steamlink, and the problem persists. This is not some ridiculously beefy webcamera either, it's a typical logitech h264 compressed video camera, the throughput should be comparable to the steamlink's video and yet this signal from the webcam is being padded or something that makes it take inordinate ammounts of network throughput. There no excuse for this poor performance. Many have been giving this product poor reviews as a result of similar difficulties, but I want to suggest that this client software is perfectly functional, It is a VirtualHere client that runs without issue. The issue is that the infrastructure is tainted by the steam link's firmware VirtualHere server implementation, it is in need of an update. However, until the steam link's firmware VirtualHere server is fixed, this product is not worth purchasing. Do not waste your money.Valve, please fix the steamlink's firmware. Updated client to 4.4.0: Updated the virtualhere client to 4.4.0 this has a few minor fixes. Updated VirtualHere windows client: Update the VirtualHere windows client to version 3.8.1 which fixes a startup crash on some win10 machines. VirtualHere now available on Android: Anyone who owns VirtualHere for Steam Link automatically gets access to VirtualHere for Android for no extra cost.VirtualHere for Android provides the same functionality as the Steamlink version, but runs on Android and works together with the new Steam Link Android App.Just download VirtualHere from the Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.virtualhere.androidserverWhen installed, the Steam Link Android App will detect VirtualHere functionality and add the VirtualHere option to the Settings menu. Then it works just like before. Most Android devices have a better CPU than the Steam Link so performance should be pretty good!. Updated VirtualHere Client to 4.3.7: This version has the following changes1. Compatible with T300RS wheel2. The virtualhere drivers are now Microsoft Quality Certified and signed with their certificate3. Fixed a potential BSOD4.
